A-37B 71-1415 from the 47th TFS at Randolph AFB TX on 6 Jul 1979. At this time the 47th was a reserve unit out of Barksdale LA; they flew Dragonflies from 1973 to 1980.
A-7D 71-0320 at Key West on 24 May 1980. It's with the SC ANG (157th TFS/169th TFG) and be lost after an engine failure on 15 Jan '83 with the pilot being killed.

A-7K 73-1008, the prototype A-7K, at NAS Pensacola FL on 4 Jun 1983. It belonged to the mysterious 4450th Tactical Group; which was eventually revealed to be the first F-117A unit. They worked the A-7s out of Nellis for proficiency flight as well as providing a suitable cover for other operations.
One of the rarest of A-10 units was the 354th FS which was based at McChord AFB for only about a year. 80-0246 wears the unit's TC code while based in Washington State. The date is 5 Apr 1994 and the weather is northwest overcast.

B-52G 58-0252 of the 97th BW at Blytheville AFB AR on 2 Feb 1981. Often referred to as "Hooterville" by flyers there, the base was renamed Eaker AFB in 1988 and closed in 1992.

B-1B 86-0132 sits on the ramp at NAS Whidbey island WA on 25 May 1994. It's from the 7th BW at Dyess AFB. This one would make a wheels-up landing at Diego Garcia in 2006.
Missouri ANG, F-100F 56-3787 110th TFS/131st TFW at St Louis, MO on 2 Sept 1977. It went to the boneyard in March 1979.
The ramp of the 110th TFS, Missouri ANG at Lambert Field in St Louis on 2 Sep 1977 with a trio of Huns present. The sharp-eyed will also look across the ramp and see a bevy of recips including a Martin twin and a B-23 among a number of other aircraft.

F-4Es from the 57th FWW (Nellis) stop at Holloman on 12 May 1974. 69-7206 carries only a travel pod; 69-0304 is hauling three external fuel tanks. Both airframes were among the group "loaned" to Australia while the RAAF waited for F-111s. They would later be modified into F-4Gs. That's a VA-97 A-7E lurking behind them.
F-4E 75-0631, in the "Last Chance" area at George AFB CA on 18 Mar 1989. It's part of the Luftwaffe training unit, the 20th TFTS and carries six inert Mk82 bombs for the range.
Not many jet fighters look as good with a sharkmouth as does the McDonnell-Douglas F-4E. Missouri ANG F-4E 67-0370 is shown at Whiteman AFB on 16 Aug 1987.
Nothin' Could Be Finer; a 'Bama Guard RF-4C sits at Whiteman AFB MO on 16 Aug 1987. 63-7745 would later be put on display at the AL ANG base in Birmingham.

A TAC T-38A, 61-0807 from the 465th TFTS/49th TFW at Holloman AFB NM 18 May 1974. The 465th "Check 6" squadron conducted fighter-lead-in training at that time.
A pair of Boeing T-43As (73-1154, 72-0288) at Buckley ANGB CO on 16 Sep 1984 working for det 1, HQ Colorado ANG. This pair were used as navigation trainers for the Air Force Academy; they had an additional two flown as operational support aircraft.

KC-10A 85-0032 drags its hose for Navy aircraft over the North Arabian Gulf during Desert Storm; 21 Jan 1991. She's from the 2d BW at Barksdale.
C-22B 83-4616 at Kelly AFB TX on 17 Nov 1991. The ANG owned several of these former National Airline Boeing 727s, flying them out of Andrews AFB MD. This one is the former N4616.
C-130A 56-0543 from the Delaware ANG (166th TAG/142nd TAS) gets some engine work at NAS Key West on 5 Nov 1980.
C-130B 59-1537 from the 433rd TAW at Kelly AFB TX on 3 Nov 1979. She was sold to the Bangladesh Air Force in 1999.
C-130E 63-7883 on display at Holloman AFB NM on 18 May 1974. It's from the 463rd TAW, out of Dyess AFB TX and carries a "DB" tailcode.
Arguably the most important single airframe in the USAF over the last 50 years has been the Boeing KC-135, since the service's Global Strike plans depend on it for execution. This is KC-135R 58-0027 from Fairchild's 92nd ARW working Navy jets from Whidbey Island over central Washington on 14 Jul 1994. The receiver here is VAQ-130 EA-6B 163402 (AC621) as it practices working with the "Iron Maiden". Another section of Prowlers are just visible heading home in the clouds below the tanker's rear fuselage.
"Built when man thought he could burn water"; the KC-135A had four J57 engines equipped with water injection for more power on take-off. KC-135A 63-8879 was photographed at NAS Whidbey Island WA on 1 Aug 1987. It's marked for the 22nd ARW out of March AFB CA.
