There's something about propeller aircraft to an aviation enthusiast. Turbo-Props are great, but recips are the real thing though. I've included both here.
Lockheed Loadstar N4141 at Vichy MO on 17 Mary 1978, a very small airport that was actually used by the Navy during WWII. This aircraft, 18-2355, was former Navy 12470 and reportedly crashed on 30 Apr 1985.
Rich International DC-6A N43867 working military cargo at NAS Roosevelt Roads, PR on 20 Oct 1981. It was delivered to the USAF as C-118A 53-3253 in 1954 and is reported to have ended up in El Salvador.
Air Resorts Convair 340 N478KW, originally a Lufthansa bird;, at San Diego on 25 Jun 1983.
A real exotic; Canadair CL-44 N121AE; built for Flying Tigers, flying here for Air Express at Miami in May 1981. It would reportedly end up in Africa and be broken up.
Summit CV580 freighter at RDU 24 Aug 1981. Built as a CV440 for Braniff in 1956, it would go through Allegheny and survive through several other carriers before being scrapped in 2011.
Northwest Airlink SAAB 340 N413XJ, operated by Mesaba. It's shown at Dayton OH (DAY) out of Detroit on 2 Nov 2000.
ZANTOP L-188 Electra at NAS Key West FL on 4 May 1981. It's a former National Airlines bird, delivered by Lockheed in 1959.

Rakish-looking Dornier 328 N426JS at Dulles (IAD) in July 1997. Operated as USAir Express by Jet Stream/PSA.
Horizon DHC-8-102 N818PH in its original scheme at SEA on 20 May 1986; it flew for Horizon from 1986 to 2001.
Never common in the US; heck, never common anywhere, only 44 BAE ATPs were built. Air Wisconsin operated them for United, largely out of ORD; where N851AW was shot on 22 Nov 1996. AW flew this one from 1989 to 2001, when it returned to Europe.

An pretty much standard FedEx-marked F-27 notable in that it's sitting on the former bomber alert ramp at Ellsworth AFB (KRCA) in South Dakota; being used while the local airport (KRAP) is closed for runway repairs. The date is 9 Aug 1996. This bird was delivered to Trans-Australia in 1968.
DAT FH-227B OO-DTC at Schipol on 8 May 1980; it's an Ozark original, operating out of St Louis for only a decade, 1967 to '77 before moving to Europe.
Transamerica L-100-30 N21ST at NAS Pensacola on 7 May 1983. It has since moved on to Africa.
