SQ A340 at EWR, 7 OCT 2009. At this time Singapore Airlines operated the longest commercial non-stop in the world, with its daily EWR-SIN flight, taking almost 19 hours to complete. Flight SQ21 was started in 2004 and suspended in 2013.
Aircalin A330-200 F-OJSE at SYD 15 May 2013. AIRCALIN is New Caledonia's airline, with only three aircraft (two A330s and an A320) rostered at the time of this shot.
Fiji/Air Pacific 747-400 DQ-FJL at Sydney, 14 Dec 2011. Delivered to Singapore Airlines in 1989, Fiji would retire it in 2013; it's since been broken up.
Through the glass at Brisbane, Queensland on 18 Feb 2011 is Air Niugini 767-300 P2-ANA (24541), one of three working for the airline. This one was delivered to Egyptair in 1989 and went on to airlines in Eritrea, Iceland and Ghana before arriving in PNG.

Qantas 747-438 VH-OEG, the fabled "Wunala Dreaming" at SYD on 10 Dec 2010. It's since been repainted back into standard QF image.

Vrgin Blue VH-VUL at Adelaide (ADL), 10 Dec 2010. One has to wonder of the paint scheme was intended to be a mirror of Qantas'; with red in front and white aft. It has since passed on to Virgin Australia.
Sharp looking Qantas Link Boeing 717 VH-YQU at Canberra (CBR) on 15 Mar 2014. This one is a former Midwest Airlines aircraft, delivered from Long Beach in 2004.
Solomons Airline A320-200 F-GSTR on a very wet day at Brisbane, Queensland (BNE) on 16 Apr 2010. Built in 1993, this one flew for a number of airlines before going to Solomons in 2009 for two years. Service was to Honoria, Guadalcanal with aircraft provided by Strategic Airlines.
JetStar A321 VH-VWZ at Melbourne, Victoria (MEL) on 9 Apr 2010. One of six of the type on the carrier's roster.

A Thai 747 in unfamiliar conditions- this is HS-TGS (747-200 22472) at SEA on 7 It was delivered to Thai in 1984 and served through 2000 before being converted to freight duty for Atlas Air.
Royal Brunei (V8) 767-300 V8-RBJ at London-Heathrow on 15 July 2000. It was delivered in 1992 and moved to Ukraine in 2011.

Big Little Airbus; Aer Lingus A321 EI-CPF at LHR 15 Jul 2000. About seven months old at this time, it later moved on to Ural Airlines.

British Airways BAC 1-11 G-AVOF at AMS, May 1980.
Marked as a "Super 737" this almost plain-vanilla 737-200 was built when no one realized how many more, much more advanced aircraft would roll off the Renton line over the following years. G-BGDG is at AMS on 8 May 1980. Named "River Medway", it was only a month old in this shot and would fly with BA through 1998.
British Caledonian BAC 1-11 G-ASJE was built in 1964 and flew with BCAL through 1982 when it moved to the US to serve with Pacific Express, Cascade, Florida Express and, finally, Braniff.

KLM DC-9-32 PH-DNS (47168) "City of Arnhem" at AMS 8 May 1980. Delivered in 1969, it was sold to Midway in 1987 and later operated with Valu Jet and AirTran.
KLM DC-8-63 PH-DEK is a beauty; the "David Livingston" is at AMS on 8 May 1980.
The A310 isn't an aircraft we see much of in the U.S. This one is D-AIDD, delivered in 1989 and used by LH through 2004. Shot at LHR on 16 Jul 2002.
Air UK Fokker F28 G-JCWW at Schipol 8 May 1980
British Airways 767 at LHR 15 Jul 2000 in the Celtic-inspired "Dove" tail markings from the remarkable (and somewhat controversial) "Utopia" program introduced in 1997 where 35 different tail schemes were applied to better reflect the airline's diverse number of destinations and cultures.
Another "Utopia" scheme, this time Australian-based "Water Dreaming", on 757-236 G-BMRF, at Heathrow on 15 Jul 2000. Only five aircraft carried this motif; this was the only 757.
Transavia Holland 737-200 at AMS 8 May 1980. Built for United in 1969 as N9059U (19940), to Transavia in 1975, later to Air Florida and America West. It's last job was with the Sacramento Kings NBA team.
AEROFLOT A310 F-OGQQ at Washington-Dulles 15 Jul 2000. Operated by them 1991-2005.
LUXAIR 737-500 LX-LGO at LHR, 16 Jul 2002. One of five of the type the company operated at one time. Delivered 1993; sold in 2006.
Balkan Bulgarian Airlines 737-3Q8 pushes back from its gate at LHR on 15 Jul 2000. The airline operated five of this 737 version before ending service in 2002.
Paint schemes don't get much simpler than JAT Yugoslavia 727-200 YU-AKL at LHR on 15 Jul 2000. It was delivered to JAT in 1981 and bounced around several other airlines before being retired in 2002.
A Greek favorite; Olympic Airlines 737-400 SX-BKD (25362) at FRA on 20 Jul 2000. They operated this airframe from 1991 until the carrier ceased operations in 2009.

Finnair DC-9-51 OH-LYR at Schipol 8 May 1980. Delivered 1976; they flew it until 1993.

Air Portugal 727-282 CS-TBW (21949) at AMS 8 May 1980. Delivered to TAP in 1979, it moved to Sun Country in 1991.

LOT Polish 767-300ER SP-LPF taxies at O'Hare on 23 Sep 2008. It's no longer on their roster, the service having been taken over by 787s.
TRANSAERO 2000 Boeing 727-200 RA-73000 (22032) at Heathrow 15 Jul 2000. There appears to have been three Russian 737s with this registration; this one is former British Airways G-BGJK and was flown by UN for only about a year.
Sabena A330 OO-SFT at DFW 26 July 2001. Delivered to SN in 2000, it would move to Lufthansa in 2002 when the Belgian company folded. It has since flown with Swiss and Air Berlin.

Probably one of the most unusual airlines I've ever shot a picture of is Uzbekistan 767-33PER VP-BUA at Frankfort Germany on 20 Jul 2000. The line has six 767s in its fleet.

Mid-East & African Airlines
Alia Airlines, out of Jordan. One of its three 747-200 taxis at AMS 8 May 1980. It came out of Everett in 1976 and would eventually be converted for cargo service.
Only 45 747SPs were built and Syrian Air had a pair. YK-AHB is shown at LHR on 15 Jul 2000.
